Get to Know Dr. Iacobucci

Dr. Mark J. Iacobucci is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Mark Iacobucci has more than 20 years’ experience performing cataract and LASIK eye surgeries to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. He specializes in all laser LASIK and laser cataract surgery with the use of toric and multifocal lenses to restore distance and near vision, and decrease the need for glasses. His last name means “Jacob in Italian”, but his patients call him Dr. Mark.

Dr. Mark graduated from Duke Medical School with Honors and received his Ophthalmology residency training at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Iacobucci is one of few doctors that has completed a one year fellowship in LASIK surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He has presented research studies at national eye meetings on various topics including laser tissue interactions, Wavefront guided LASIK, and laser chromophore assisted corneal collagen crosslinking.

Dr. Iacobucci has performed free sight-restoring surgeries for many patients as part of the Mission Cataract program for the past 10 years. He also provided eye care for patients in need referred by the Maryview Foundation. He and his family support CHKD Hospital, the Diabetes Foundation, the Chesapeake Free Clinic and the Roc Solid Foundation. He is a member of the Sons of Italy, Knights of Columbus, and actively participates in his local church with his family. Dr. Iacobucci has been a member of Lions Club since 2001, and has worked as a volunteer for the Lions Eye Bank and the North Carolina Eye Bank to help restore the sight of corneal patients.

Dr. Iacobucci lives with his wife Lourdes and their two children in Chesapeake, VA. His wife is also a physician who sees patients and teaches resident physicians in Norfolk. His parents also live close by. His father is a retired NASA Project Manager and veteran USAF B- 52 pilot, and his mother is a retired school teacher. Dr. Iacobucci enjoys playing guitar, outdoor activities, traveling and spending time with his family.
