Custom LASIK

We proudly offer custom wavefront LASIK eye surgery and evaluations at our Hampton Roads locations in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Using the advanced VISX^® CustomVue^™, our surgeons are able to correct visual imperfections with greater accuracy than was ever possible with traditional LASIK. Each person’s vision is like a fingerprint, unique to his or her eye. With traditional LASIK, the surgeon relies on standardized measurements to guide the laser. Using WaveScan^® technology, the VISX^® CustomVue^™ system projects a detailed map of the cornea’s surface onto a computer screen. The surgeon designs an individualized surgical plan based on the measurements of the image. The customized measurements are transferred to the VISX^® STAR S4^™ Excimer Laser and guide the laser as it makes the appropriate corrections.

According to the makers of the VISX^® CustomVue^™ machine, custom LASIK carries an impressive success rate:

• 100 percent of CustomVue^™ patients could see well enough to pass a driver’s test without glasses or contact lenses.
• 98 percent of CustomVue^™ patients could see 20/20 or better.
• 70 percent of CustomVue^™ patients could see better than 20/20.
