Get to Know Dr. DeVantier

Dr. Wayne DeVantier is a board certified ophthalmologist who provides high quality comprehensive eye care to patients from Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth and other Hampton Roads areas. Dr. DeVantier has a special interest in diabetic eye complications and glaucoma care. After 35 years practicing ophthalmology (32 years in Tidewater) Dr. DeVantier has partially retired and is no longer performing eye surgery.

After receiving his medical degree from Georgetown School of Medicine, Dr. DeVantier spent two years as a U.S. Navy Flight Surgeon at Oceana. Once he completed a residency at Bethesda Naval Hospital, he was transferred to the Naval Hospital at Roosevelt Roads in Puerto Rico, where he served admirably for several years. Dr. DeVantier was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1989 and joined Tidewater Eye Centers soon thereafter.

When Dr. DeVantier is not caring for his patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife Pam, his two adult children and grandson. He spends a lot of time enjoying the Outer Banks.
