Get to Know Dr. Ashley

Dr. Heather Ashley was born and raised in Abingdon, Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. After graduating, she began working as an optometric technician, which is how she developed her passion for eye care. She then moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she completed her Doctorate in Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Ashley focuses on comprehensive eye care, diabetic eye disease, contact lenses, dry eye disease, co-management of refractive surgeries, and emergent and urgent eyecare. Dr. Ashley loves seeing patients of all ages and considers herself a family eye doctor.

While in school at Southern College, Dr. Ashley attended several Remote Area Medical Clinics where she was able to provide eye care to over 200 patients. Additionally, she provided vision screenings to students in the local community, as well as nursing homes throughout Memphis. Dr. Ashley received an Outstanding Clinical Achievement Award while completing her third and fourth years of optometry school.

Dr. Ashley holds memberships with the American Optometric Association and the Virginia Optometric Association. She also serves as Treasurer and Board Member of the Tidewater Optometric Association, and is an alumnus of Gamma Sigma Sigma, a national service sorority.

Dr. Ashley enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Aaron, their son, Miles, and their three dogs. She loves cooking, gardening, kayaking, quilting, mountain biking and hiking.
