Dr. Tom Edmonds is a Board Certified Cataract and Refractive Surgeon. He is one of only six Virginia eye surgeons to be Board Certified in LASIK Surgery by the Board of Eye Surgeons. He was the first surgeon in the area to perform a custom Lasik procedure.

Over the years, Dr. Edmonds has also earned a reputation as one of the area’s finest and most innovative cataract surgeons. He performed the area’s first “no-needle, no-stitch” cataract procedure and was the first to implant both the ReStor^® Multifocal IOL and the Symfony^® EDOF IOL after cataract surgery. Having performed over 20,000 cataract and refractive procedures, he is one of the most experienced surgeons in Virginia. Dozens of local eye care providers have chosen Dr. Edmonds to perform surgery on themselves or their family members.

Community Service

Dr. Edmonds became involved in community service at an early age. He grew up in a small town on the Eastern Shore where his father and grandfather served as the town’s only doctors. He often accompanied them in house calls to see patients who could not make it in to the office. Dr. Edmonds has continued that community involvement as an active member of multiple local church, civic, and medical boards. He has represented our area on the Virginia Society of Eye Surgeons and, for over 20 years, he provided free cataract surgery for local patients that do not have the means to pay for it. Dr. Edmonds also travels regularly to Africa and Honduras to provide free cataract surgery through 1-2 week medical missions.
